I absolutely love this book. Same Kind of Different as Me, by Ron Hall and Denver Moore (with Lynn Vincent), chronicles the unlikely friendship that develops between two men from completely different walks of life. Ron is a millionaire art dealer, and Denver is a black homeless man who has endured a life of tragedy and loss. Ron’s wife, Debbie, becomes convicted that God wants these two polar opposites to make a difference in the world. The spiritual journey that unfolds will blow your mind.
The internet buzz is that movie rights have been sold for this true story, and that Forrest Whitaker is interested in playing the role of Denver (perfect!). But don’t wait for the movie. You’ll miss out on the beautiful rendering of dialect and the intimate detail that can only be extracted from the written word.
Read this for sheer pleasure. Your faith will be uplifted.
