I got an email from “Auntie Dalyn” requesting prayer:
Kassandra is my four-year-old niece who will be having surgery for PAPVR in the coming days. Our family is trying to be as emotionally strong as possible although the daily pep talks to ourselves is becoming more and more difficult as the day of surgery nears. Please keep her in your prayers and thank you for a website that gave me the information I was looking for and needed.
Friends of Nathan’s Prayer, please remember Kassandra and her family. Dalyn, I know exactly how you and your family feel. You know that you must put on a brave face, because you don’t want to frighten Kassandra, but on the inside you feel so afraid. My Nathan’s heart surgery was also to correct PAPVR (Partial Anomalous Pulmonarey Venous Return). Handing our child over to surgeons was the hardest thing my husband, Bryan, and I have ever had to do. My prayers are for you and your family to feel God’s comfort, and for God to give Kassandra’s surgical team wisdom and skill as they work to correct her heart. Please keep us informed.

So many hurting children… Lord Jesus, please be with Kassandra and her family. Carry them through this difficult time. Please be their strength and put a song into their hearts.

I am Kassandra’s mother and I am honored that you have included her on your prayer list. Kassandra has PAPVR and an ASD. I ofter tell myself how I wish that I could take her place. She is a very small, but strong little girl. She has touched the lives of so many people and is loved by everyone that she meets. Kassandra knows what is going to happen and knows that she is going to have surgery again, although I know that she may not understand. Thank you again for putting her on your prayer list.

It’s a blessing to be able to pray for Kassandra. And I am not surprised to hear that she has touched others. We all learn a lot from these brave little ones. If it makes you feel any better, she will not remember surgery this young. That’s what I learned from Nathan:

Still, these are anxious times for you and your family. Kassandra will be in our hearts and prayers.

The Lord will provide for all our needs and wants. Kassandra is a very strong and loving little girl. She is definitely a child of God. Steph and Frank, I know that you two are wonderful parents. Your strength thru this ordeal helps Kassie see that she has no need to fear. Please know that our whole family is praying and offers support in any way possible. Please call on us at any time!
Kassie’s smile and sweet little voice along with her rough bullheadedness are like gravity; pulling people in to her. God has blessed that child and has blessed our family to have her as a part of it. We will continue to pray for you all during this difficult time. We love you all dearly!
